Hand Made - W. J. Gordy
Pansy Vase
5-3/4" high x 5" diameter

Georgia folk pottery brought into the Twentieth Century by W. J. Gordy, one of the finest of the potters of the Georgia folk tradition.

Classic Gordy form. Hand made bud vase, or pansy vase, featuring, in addition to its high-collared main aperture, 18 self-collared holes, set in three uniform rows of six each (vs. the more common two rows of six).

Covered in a variegated dusty wheat semi-matte glaze, flowing over earth brown.

Wonderful example of beautifully controlled Gordy pottery.

Base showing off-white clay and glaze-filled mark.
