BACKGROUND: Fritz Richter, painter and wood-engraver, was born in Salzburg in 1904. He studied art in Germany, Italy, Paris and the Balkans, eventually settling in Berchtesgaden. He exhibited throughout the world, including the Academy of Art in Berlin, the House of Art in Munich, the Paris World Fair, and the Art Institute of Chicago. He was recipient of the Kultur prize after World War II.
