Etching Original etching depicting a salt-works in Dartmouth, MA.
A narrow strip of paper, bearing the typeset copy, is glued to the sheet, well below the image. It reads: SALT-WORKS NEAR PADANARAM BRIDGE. DR. LEROY MILTON YALE. - BACKGROUND: Dr. Leroy Million Yale, Jr., was a pediatrician by profession, but also a dedicated author - he wrote articles for Scribners, angler - he made his own rods; tied his own flies, photographer, artist and etcher - he founded the New York Etching Society. Although a New Yorker, he summered in Quissett, MA, near Woods Hole, and across Buzzards Bay from Dartmouth, the area depicted in this etching. Good, strong impression. Now double matted in what appears to be archival mat board. In a previous time it was apparently mounted non-archivally, leaving a typical stained mat-window border (now covered by the current mat). Possibly originally backed with wood, the back is heavily discolored; the front, much less so. Should clean well. $ 125. I-347-O
